 Overview

Following a night in Nairobi to relax and enjoy a historic tour of Nairobi or a delightful restaurant, depart early in the morning on safari to Masai Mara. From the open plains of Masai Mara, the highest Lake of the Rift Valley – Lake Naivasha and the swamps of Amboseli, this safari takes in three of the most picturesque regions in Kenya. It also provides the perfect opportunity to spot the Big-5 and to capture some diverse scenery.

Day 1: Arrive Nairobi

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by African Adventure Specialists’ staff and transferred to the Golden Tulip hotel in Westlands for check in and remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Nairobi - Masai Mara

You will wake up at 0700 o’clock for a buffet breakfast at the hotel. A short safari briefing will be conducted by your representative before you begin your safari adventure to the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. You will drive through the spectacular Great Rift Valley and Maasai Country. You will arrive your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, proceed for your first game drive in the Mara in search of the ‘big five’ – Elephants, Buffalos, Rhinos, Lions & Leopards. Return back to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Masai Mara

Optional Early Morning balloon safari ride (US$450.00 per person) across the Maasai Mara plain. Breakfast at the lodge then enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south. Game abounds here; The Mara is noted for its abundance of lions – particularly the superb black maned males. See the great Migraton where over 1.5 million wildebeest and other antelopes crossing the mighty Mara River. Experience the battle between survival and hunger. You are also likely to see lots of elephants here often in large herds, as well as – if you’re lucky leopard, cheetah and rhino. All of the Big Five are residents. You’re sure to see the African buffalo. Get the cameras ready, stock up on film/tapes and enjoy yourselves. During the day, visit a local masai village to learn their culture as well as support their conservation efforts. Dinner and overnight at your camp.

Day 4: Masai Mara – Lake Naivasha

Early Morning sunrise game drive in Masai Mara returning to your camp for breakfast. After breakfast, we will drive to Naivasha. You will arrive to Naivasha in time for lunch. Lake Naivasha is the highest Lake of the Rift Valley located at an altitude of 1890 meters above sea level. This lake is a combination of volcanic rocks and sedimentary deposits. It has a length of 139 square kilometers. It is home to a population of more than 400 birds species and has a large population of Hippos. Part of the Movie “Out of Africa” was filmed in this area. We will enjoy the magnificent facilities, gardens, swimming pool and outdoor areas of the Lodge, the beautiful views of the Lake as the lodge has fantastic views full of resident wildlife such as Giraffes, Zebras and Gazelles. In the afternoon, conduct an Optional boat ride ( payable direct ) that will enable you to see colonies of hippopotamuses, the fishing eagles in action, marabou stork, crocodiles, etc. Later proceed on an optional guided crescent Island Tour which is situated at the middle of the Lake. Here you will be able to view wild animals that permanently live here like wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, giraffes, warthogs. We will disembark with a local guide and will continue trekking on foot through this Island that is located at the heart of the Lake, walking at our pace around this incredible place. Day 5: Lake Naivasha – Amboseli National Park

After an early breakfast, a road journey takes you into Amboseli National Park, set at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The park may be best known for its herds of elephants and the ground-breaking research began by Cynthia Moss in the early 1970’s. Along with these gentle giants, other plains game such as zebra, wildebeest and buffalo are in abundance. Arrive in time for check in and lunch at sentrim Camp. Afternoon game viewings drive in the ark before returning to your lodge for dinner and Overnight.

Day 6: Explore Amboseli National Park

Early morning and evening game drives in the Park. Amboseli National Park is situated near the border of Kenya and Tanzania in the south east region of Kenya about 250 kms from Nairobi. Magnificent views of snow-capped Kilimanjaro are dominant. The best time to see it, however, is early morning or just around sunset. This is Africa’s highest mountain – some call it “the rooftop of Africa”. Game drives with all meals and overnight at Amboseli Sentrim camp on a full board basis.

Day 7: Depart

Following an early breakfast, you’ll catch your last views of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as you depart Amboseli viewing game en route to the border of the park. From here turn west to the colourful border town of Namanga, where you will find some unique Maasai beadwork. Then turn north along a good tarmac road across the beautiful and seemingly never ending Athi Plains, arriving in Kenya’s bustling capital city of Nairobi by early mid day. On arrival, lunch at the carnivore restaurant later drop off at the airport for your departure flight as your safari ends with great memories from African Adventure Specialists tour.
